General Questions about the Congress
Is the registration fee a per-person cost?
Yes, the registrant fee is a per-person cost. We have various categories of tickets to accommodate different needs and preferences while ensuring that families can attend at an affordable rate. This approach allows us to include a wide range of entertainment and support facilities for all our guests.
Will it be possible to access recordings of any presentations, for a fee?
We are looking into this and should have an updated Answer here by May 2024!
Our visit with our Rett Person is dependent on the Congress programme. How can we keep informed?
We will be sending EVERYONE who has registered an opportunity to download and connect with an app called Whova. It will allow you to stay immediately informed of events, locations, maps, times – everything you’ll need to know about the Congress all in one place!
I am wondering if the talks and presentations will be recorded so I could have a copy for the care providers?
This will be highly dependent on the talks and presentations themselves. Some of the presentations may be quite cutting edge / breaking news, and we won’t have a dedicated live stream channel for the Congress. This is definitely something we hope to work on at the next Congress event!
I am particularly interested in certain discussions/themes at the Congress. Where can I found out more?
Our Whova App (soon to be released) will provide all the information you need to connect with the organizers, speakers and other attendees. We will have nearly 50 persons with Rett joining us for the Congress event, and a large number who are over 18 years of age. If you are interested in connecting with other families during your stay at the Congress, please contact us either via email or during the event by seeing one of our friendly Front-of-House support staff!
Questions regarding Accessible Facilities
Dress code for the Cocktail Party and Sea World Gala?
Semi-formal dress is required for the Cocktail Party and Sea World Gala Dinner events.
FYI, there will be approximately 45 minutes of free time prior to the Cocktail Party, and 90 minutes prior to the Sea World event.
You may wish to consider enclosed non-slip shoes particularly at the Sea World event, because there is approximately 200-250m of travel involved between the dolphin show, the Shark Bay exhibit and the Dinner venues.
Can we request a quiet room, in case things get too overwhelming, or for napping or mindfulness.
We will have several dedicated facilities, including accessible change rooms and the disability accessible cabin which can be booked out for 2 hours at a time. You can also ask one of our friendly staff in a pinch, and we will work with you to find the most appropriate (and closest!) facility.
Will a Fridge and microwave be provided?
YES! We plan to have these facilities available on Level 2, and will provide more detailed information as to their availability and location closer to the Congress Event.
Will there be any beds to rest in so not in chair all day ?
We will have beanbags in the hangout rooms, and the accessible cabin can be booked out for up to 2 hours for showering and toileting. There are also lots of lounge chairs and open spaces connected to the main Foyer of the QT hotel.
Some hair styling fun and preparation for the girls going to the gala night!
What a fantastic idea!
We’re going to arrange this.
For those that want to look their best for Gala dinner night, there will be a make-up / hair stylist / face painter available in the afternoon session for the kids that want to look their best for Gala dinner.
Make up and face paint is all non-allergenic, suitable for all.
In our hangout room, our daughter needs some music for being awake.
The accessible rooms will all have ambient low-level music, but it may take time for us to setup dedicated sound/speaker facilities.
If your Rett person requires something extra special please come and see us, but we do encourage that families supply to the hangout room.
Are toileting/changing services included / supported by the on-site staff?
Unfortunately due to health and safety restrictions, we cannot provide staff who can toilet or change your Rett person. However, we will have dedicated facilities for an adult change table, hoists, commode and full disability-accessible wetroom shower and bathroom. Emergency consumables such as nappies and wet-wipes will also be provided, and running water, fridge and microwave facilities will also be nearby.
Will there be access to baby change facilities?
We have adult-size changing tables, and the disability-accessible toilet on level 2 has a baby-change table.
Will there be high chairs available?
Yes, there will be several high chairs available for collection.
Will there be available power points for kids to charge their ipads/nintendos/electronic devices?
We will have plenty of powerpoints available in all the Accessible and Hangout rooms, but we won’t have facilities to store them securely when not in use! Please be mindful of this.
I have a walker or mobility scooter. Will I be able to use this at the Congress event?
The majority of the Congress event will take place on the Ground Floor of the QT Hotel. Exhibition and Poster presentation spaces will be on Level 1, and the Accessible and Respite/Hangout facilities will be on Level 2. Lifts are available at the hotel to travel between. A mobility scooter will probably not be appropriate for use as we will have a very large number of attendees in a relatively small area.
Placement of chairs throughout the displays would be much appreciated.
We will endeavour to ensure chairs and other seating will be available in all areas of the Congress event!
